My twin grumbled but began climbing the ladder. Tesla and Reedy Voice shared a giggle.<\/p>\n<p>The man said, &#8220;I had to do my practice runs <em>late at night, while Sherry was asleep,<\/em> so I really haven&#8217;t been getting as much rest as I should. But I feel ready.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;ll do great,&#8221; Tesla replied. &#8220;One day you&#8217;ll have a command of your own, and a chest weighed down with <em>shiny brass buttons and campaign ribbons<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A loud clank from above signaled Jason&#8217;s imminent return.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sherry still knew something was up,&#8221; Reedy Voice went on. &#8220;I&#8217;m sure she thought my mysterious comings and goings, the change in how I dressed, all <em>pointed to a cult<\/em>. If she only knew how wrong she was.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Or how right,&#8221; Jason said as he reached the bottom of the ladder.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Don&#8217;t sound so much like Yves, please,&#8221; Tesla groaned. She threw a lever and thunderous sloshing noises resounded down the length of the hull. &#8220;You know I was <em>violently ill after being with him<\/em> the first time.
